Ciril Derganc, S51AE

Ciril Derganc S51AE, born 1932 in Trbovlje, Slovenia. Attended technical school in Ljubljana, joined local amateur radio club there, became SWL YU3RS68 in 1949 and acquired YU3AE call sign in 1951. In late 1953 started to work as technician at Marine Coast Station Rijeka Radio (YUR) in Croatia. Went to sea in 1955 and acquired 2nd Class Marine Radio Officer's licence in 1956. From 1960 on held ashore different technical positions with Radio and TV Station in Ljubljana, an electronic parts factory, a chemical plant, and river Drava power plants in NE Slovenia. Founder and instructor of YU3DOX club in Starse, known for youngest members, educating many young operators. In a unique family of hams the late wife Danica, son Marko, and daughter Mojca were all active hams! Went to sea again in 1985 and retired in 1992. 
Worked Maritime Mobile from 1955 to 1960, in1977, and from 1985 to1992.
Author of a richly illustrated book Na morja siroki cesti (On the Wide Road of the Sea), published in 2004, ISBN 961-6337-08-4.
